Common questions
The things people ask before they book.
Eleven answers. If yours is not here, the quote form on the main page takes about two minutes.
01Do I need to pour a pad first?+
No concrete. The building sits on a pressure-treated floor system on skids, so it goes straight onto the ground. What it needs is a level, firm spot so the skids sit flat. If you would rather have a gravel pad or concrete piles under it, we build those too as part of set-up.
02What is the floor built on?+
Pressure-treated skids on grade, pressure-treated joists across them at 24 inches on centre, and a three-quarter-inch tongue-and-groove deck on top. The T&G locks panel to panel so the floor works as one piece instead of separate sheets.
03What finishes can I get?+
Every barn comes painted, with contrasting trim, under architectural shingles. A metal roof is +$650. If you want a particular colour or a different siding, ask on the quote form and the price comes back in writing.
04How long is the wait?+
Depends what you are after. Finished buildings sitting in the yard can be on your property within days. A build to order goes into the schedule once you say yes, and we tell you the current lead time when we send the price.
05What does delivery cost?+
Delivery is free within Edmonton. Outside Edmonton it is $2.50 per km, one way, so you only pay for the loaded trip out, not the drive back. It is a drop-and-go: we back the trailer up and slide the barn onto a clear, ready spot. If it needs to go somewhere tight, or you want a pad or piles first, send a photo of the spot and we quote the set-up separately.
06What kind of access do you need?+
A clear path wide enough for the trailer to get to the spot. Gates, soft ground, tight corners and low branches all matter. Send a photo of where it is going and we will tell you before delivery day rather than on it.
07How much to book?+
You get the full price in writing first, with the build, the delivery and any set-up broken out separately. A 25% deposit secures your build day and delivery date. For a custom build, $650 reserves your spot in the schedule and comes off the final price.
08What doors do I get?+
Every barn comes with wood barn doors. A steel roll-up door is +$350 and needs no clearance in front of it. If you want a window, ask for one on the quote form and we price it with the rest.
09Can I pick it up myself?+
Yes, if you have a trailer that can carry it and a way to unload at the other end. Anything sitting finished in our yard is ready for pickup. If you would rather we handle it, delivery is free within Edmonton and $2.50 per km outside it.
10Can I insulate it or finish the inside?+
Yes. Tell us what you want on the quote form, such as insulation, an interior lining or a window, and the price comes back in writing with the rest of the build.
11Do you build anything other than storage sheds?+
Yes. Bunkhouses for camp season, modern studios, barn-style buildings and custom work with decks built in. If you have something specific in mind, call and describe it.
